Proud To Be An American
This is an adaptation of Qualatex's Stand Up Guys. It should be noted that we conciously mixed Qualatex Ruby Red and Qualatex Red. We felt that the opaque Red helped give the sculpture weight. It also helped hide mechanics. The 646Q is available in Ruby Red. All latex balloons are air inflated. Helium inflate the foil.
Inflate two 646Q Ruby Red with a 1 inch tail and tie in a duplet. Tie a weight to each of the uninflated tips. (We used sand filled 11" Red latex.) Inflate three four-balloon clusters of 5" Red, sized to 4.5 inches. Inflate Betallic's Proud to Be An American Foil and wrap neck around knot connecting the 646Q's. Add a Red balloon cluster at each joint of the weight & 646Q to form the feet and at the joint of the 646Q's and foil to form the waist. Inflate an 11" Red to 10" for the head and cut off the neck. Place 6 GlueDots spaced 1" out from the neck at even intervals. Have one person hold the foil jacket vertical and help align the head. Another person holds the head and positions it on the foil. Consult each other for positioning, before depressing the head onto the body, to ensure a correct alignment. (You are too close to it to do it by yourself and get it aligned correctly.) A scarf tied around the neck is not necessary, but it does add personality. The foil balloon is actually the back on on both sides, so don't try to add a face to the head.
